Pradarshak presents Glimpses– A Solo Photography Exhibition by Rohan Sonar

Oct 30, 2017

The budding photographer, Indologist, art enthusiast, Rohan Sonar finds a mix of all his interests when he looks through the lens. His sensitivity towards the ‘unseen’ in routine and in the macro world helps him realise the value of opportunity, timing and position when he decides to capture a moment for posterity. ‘Glimpses’, his photographic journey spans a wide genre of compositions - of people, nature, still, objects, heritage monuments, the little pleasures of life… as he strives to capture that elusive, fleeting moment that makes a scenario magical, making a wonderful memory out of a passing moment. Working with light and its mystical influence, Rohan is a patient artist, who waits at length to get the right light… the right moment of capture! In this, his third solo exhibition, Rohan shares some gems from his photographic journey, conveying silently and soulfully, the cherished moments he has spent with each of his captures. That the layman gets to share a glimpse of the sublime through the photographer’s eyes, is what underlines each of his photographs. Rohan Sonar uses the canvas medium to display his creativity, offering a limited edition on most of his prints, in various sizes. The exhibition can be simultaneously viewed online at gallerypradarshak.com and at Pradarshak at 12th Road, Khar(W), Mumbai 400 052 from s23rd Oct. – 3rd Nov.’17

Nicobar Elephant For The Ele Parade

Oct 30, 2017

Nicobar is thrilled to be a part of the Elephant Parade, a mass movement that generates awareness and funds. Dedicated to saving the Asian Elephant from extinction, it is poignant that the parade is taking place in India as so many elephants call India their home, but are sadly losing the habitat they need to survive. Elephant Parade India will be held from November 2017 to March 2018 in leading cities. Nicobar’s elephant, named ‘Kandy’ is an ode to the candy stripes that feature in the design. The design is a bold spin on Nicobar’s signature motif with a deeper meaning that symbolizes the elephant’s dwindling natural habit. It is an artistic interpretation of roads (zebra crossing) and railway tracks. The fronds on the elephant’s back represent the lack of forest cover available to them, and how they’re being pushed into a corner. Kandy is also a reference to the Indian elephants that hail from nearby Kandy in Sri Lanka. With an aim to maximize visual impact through simplicity, Nicobar has only worked with acrylic paints keeping it simple. Artist Prabhash Adikary has been working with Good Earth, Nicobar’s sister brand since 2011 with a keen eye for shades, styles and textures. The designs he carefully crafts on paper is translated into motifs and prints on a wide range of home and textile products at Good Earth. He approaches his work deliberately and meticulously, with skills he honed during a four-year course studying Fine Art at Calcutta Art College. The Elephant Parade design that Prabhash has so meticulously brought to life, is a collaborative effort between him and Nicobar’s in-house Home team.

Walk Along the Line- A Group Art Exhibition

Oct 23, 2017

Walk along the Line attempts to reflect 3 journeys in shared space and time presenting works of three contemporary women artists, featuring works on paper and canvas expressed sensitively, exploring various media like charcoal, graphite, ink, oil and acrylics. The participating artists are Neeraja Divate, Gitanjali Kashyap and Ritu Mehra. In her charcoal and graphite drawings, artist Gitanjali Kashyap uses the subtle symmetry generated by rhythmic movements in creation. She unites schematic geometric forms to create changing fields of visions often by the use of repeat imagery and austere monochromatic abstraction. She believes in the potentialities of visual texture which is usually a very significant element of the artwork. Artist Neeraja Divate’s works are based on the underlying philosophy “Details create the big picture” - says Neeraja Divate. The work is textured as a result of pressed effect on an empty space in a determined direction with delicate strokes that bring to the forefront the concealed layers of one’s personality. According to her, texture reveals the personality and individual technicality of the artist and to her, it is a window to her own aesthetic experiences.Continuing along the same lines of thought, artist Ritu Mehra creates a textured surface on canvas, often with lines and marks that symbolize the infinite casual connections that make the microcosm of life. This weaving together of the subject and its context is quite like interlaced threads that render a fabric. Texture has a major role to play in her artworks. She considers herself a liberal experimenter and likes to create unique textures through various mediums. The show will be held at  Shridharini Art Centre, Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House, New Delhi – 1 from the 24th of October to the 2nd of November 2017.
