Furniture generated by algorithms, a fully functional 3-D printed steel bridge and chairs that can be downloaded from the Internet. These are but a few examples of the ingenious oeuvre of designer/inventor/artist Joris Laarman. From Sept. 27 through Jan. 15, 2018, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum will present the exhibition Joris Laarman Lab: Design in the Digital Age. Organized by the Groninger Museum, the Netherlands, the acclaimed exhibition will make its U.S. debut at Cooper Hewitt and travel to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Design in the Digital Age shows work from Joris Laarman Lab from 2004 onwards, including achievements like the iconic Bone furniture, Maker chairs,  Dragon bench and the MX3D bridge project. New to the exhibition is his latest work: Gradient screen, an object generated with the same algorithm and scale as the bridge which explores the current boundaries of robotic digital fabrication.

Godrej Appliances Carried Out A Survey On India’s Fridge Relations That Reveals Fascinating Facts About Indian Consumers

Over half Indian consumers (53%) claim to know the precise contents of their household fridge at any moment, nearly one-in-five (19%) would succumb to ‘sleepless nights’ if the contents were not renewed every day, and a third clean the fridge with ‘military precision’ at least once a week. Other respondents to the study also revealed a form of ‘fridge negligence’; over a quarter admitted to having no idea of the contents beyond bottled water, with 5% describing it as a ‘complete mystery’, while 8% can’t even recall the last time they changed the contents. Other profiles were also revealed through the study. Over a quarter (27%) of respondents admit to regularly raiding the fridge after midnight, while India’s ‘fridge Spartans’ pride themselves on abstinence and self-control. For around a quarter (27%) of such respondents, over 80% of their fridge’s contents are fresh (as opposed to packaged) foods, while a third of them (32%) never leave left-overs in the fridge for more than a couple of days. The survey also revealed Indian’s hedonistic streak when it comes to the contents of their fridge. 

Industry Awaits Renewable Energy India Expo (rei) 2017

Maharera Database Reflects Longer Wait For Home Buyers: Knight Frank India Analysis

Hundreds of residential projects promised to be handed over to home buyers this year have suddenly witnessed a leap in delivery timelines in the wake of the Real Estate Regulation and Development (RERA) Act, 2016 becoming a reality, found a Knight Frank India analysis. The report took a close look at residential units registered with the Maharashtra RERA regulator or the MahaRERA in the Mumbai suburbs until August 16, 2017. According to the report timelines for almost six out of ten under construction units (57%) were revised for more than a year. For nearly one-fourth (24%) of the 1, 07,875 registered units the completion deadline was pushed by 12 to 18 months. The report further found that 19% of construction homes were delayed by 24 to 48 months and 10% of these properties would not get completed before four years.

Just about one-third of the units listed with the MahaRERA is set to be completed on time, the report added.
