Keeping up with the dynamic design trends of the year, season, month and event particular festival’s is probably as difficult as Keeping Up With The Kardashians! So to make your life easy, DezignGenie.com has asked its professionals to help you out! To understand your likes and dislikes better whilst being cautious of the perishable trends, we bring to you a trend series of “What’s In & What’s Out!” in the different areas of your home, such as the bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom!
Beginning with the haven of your sweet home, the bedroom, we’ve got Ms. Smriti Jaju, Interior Designer & Cofounder of the uber-stylish Meraki Homes and Mr. Nitesh Chandra, Cofounder of the vibrant (as the name suggests) Maddhome! As Smriti suggests the bedroom “is one place in your abode that must hold on the true reflection of your personal choice surrounding you in a world of uncompromising comfort”, Nitesh adds on to this with ways of reusing our home décor items, which we are comfortable with, while sticking to the newest home fashion.
Nitesh shows us another way of transforming the wall art trend by mixing the past with the present – use vintage or funky colors, which will make your bedroom walls visually appealing. Alternatively, make artistic use of your old and non-sturdy dishes by flashing them on your walls! He is also leaving behind the costly wall paintings and antique artwork in 2016, while trying out some old, decorative and colorful posters for 2017. He encourages the use of various colour combinations and complementing them with your surrounding décor!

On the other hand, Nitesh brings out the funk in your furniture with a wide variety of colors and patterns. Go for jazzy dining colors that will give a touch of the extravagant 70’s…
Metallic Lighting & Accessories
Adding on, Nitesh suggests using a retro style statement with a colourful statement mirror as a “trendy decor element” above your bed or a side table in your entryway or living room!
With the insightful advice from the cofounders of Meraki Homes and Maddhome, we’ve conferred the biggest hint of styling: old design styles make a spectacular comeback with a contemporary twist. So now on, no more wastage – just reuse and repurpose… Stay tuned for the next episode of this trend series, only on www.DezignGenie.com and our social media platforms!
