May, 2017

The godfather of Interior Exhibitions, The Salone Del Mobile, unveiled its 56th edition at the Fiera Milano complex of Rho town in Milan. The display area exceeded 2,00,000 sq. m with over 2000 exhibitors and 3,40,000 attendees from across 165 nations for the 6 days of the event from the 4th to the 9th of April 2017.

The Salone Del Mobile transforms the entire city of Milan with its exclusive exhibitions. The Salone Internazionale Del Mobile better known as the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition had more than 1,300 exhibitors. This exhibition was split among three main themes of Classic, Design and xLux. The Classic and Design themes are polar opposites and featured trends from the past and future respectively.

The xLux collection focused on the amalgamation of the former two bringing in the retro best with a contemporary touch, giving the best of both worlds.
Eurolace, the lighting exhibition at Salone, in its 29th edition showcased the story of light with its exploratory materials and new geometric balanced structures. The technological experimentation has brought it to new frontiers of functionality, showcasing lighting products used in home automation systems to those used in commercial sectors like industrial, and even street lighting. The lighting manufacturers bring to the table only the best researched and developed technologies that focus on ecological sustenance through their creative designs and sustainable materials that not only save energy but also reduce indoor light pollution.

Workplaces3.0 is an international biennial exhibition that has become a major space of innovation over 20 years. Spread over 10,000 sq m, it hosts over 100 exhibitors who are committed to producing cutting edge designs for the workplaces based on changing market demands.
As the concept of work changes, so does the space used for it. It showcases design of workplaces that bring to the plate the challenges in a contemporary fast-paced environment coupled with the need for efficiency and intelligent design. This evolution is encapsulated in forward-looking design solutions that positively reinforce the work-life balance.

The Salone Del Mobile is incomplete without the Salone Satellite. The visitors to this space have included over 300 international design schools and over 10,000 youngsters. This has become a launch pad for young designers with talent and vision to create a spot for themselves in the international design market. It is a hotbed of creativity and presents a renewed vision of design.

Salone Del Mobile Milano Award in its 2nd edition recogonises the value of the ideas and creativity put forth at the Salone. The Flourisalone literally means Outside the Salone. This lays the real-time implication of the Salone in the outdoor space of Milan. Forgotten heritage buildings and the newer structures open their doors to exhibitions with the intention to exhibit pop-ups and let the public marvel at the gems of the city, through their architecture. The Ventura Lambrate area boasted of experimental material research and social projects unlike the rest of the exhibits.

The first edition of the Ventura Centrale rediscovered eight old warehouses, making them the space for some of the best exhibits of the fair. The Salone brings together the best and the most robust designs in the trade. It is a space for innovation and creativity making it the trendsetter of the industry. These different spaces are the pulse of the expo under the grand exhibition that drives excitement to the fair, embodied in its tag line to be the first to see the latest.
